Healing Touch

Safe natural therapy to heal illness and improve well-being

Healing Touch is a holistic energy medicine therapy that taps into the body’s innate wisdom so it can heal itself. It facilitates physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health without medication, helping alleviate symptoms and addressing the root causes of illnesses and imbalances.

Janet Mentgen, the founder of Healing Touch, created this approach based on a medical model for health care. She was a holistic nurse, healer and visionary with a deep understanding of the theory and practice of energy healing.

How does it work?

We are more than our physical body. In addition to the cells, tissues, organs, and systems that are beautifully designed to keep us alive and healthy, we also have an energy system made up of meridians, chakras, and a biofield (aura). This energy system penetrates and surrounds the physical body and supports every aspect of our being.

When we are well, energy flows freely and smoothly and we are able to maintain a natural state of balance. When we are injured, ill, or under stress, the flow of energy becomes blocked or out of balance.

In a compassionate, intentional way, Healing Touch practitioners use their hands with non-invasive techniques to clear blockages, improve energy flow, and enhance balance and harmony in the energy system, which places you in a position to self-heal.

What can you expect?

Your first appointment begins with a review of your lifestyle, medical history, and any current physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual concerns. Discussing your long-term and short-term goals for treatment is an essential part of the process of creating a wellness plan that is tailor-made for your needs.

Healing Touch treatments are typically administered while you lie on a massage table with your clothes on. The practitioner will assess your energy system and then use a variety of techniques with hands positioned above or, with your permission, in light contact with your body.

During treatment, most people feel deeply relaxed and some occasionally experience a dream-like state. You might feel a variety of sensations such as tingling, temperature fluctuations, internal movement, or emotional release. Some people don’t feel any sensations. Each of us is different and each session is unique.

The session ends with a short period of rest, which allows you to begin integrating the work of Healing Touch. You will be encouraged to drink water while you and your practitioner discuss your experience and any insights you gained from the treatment.

Your energy will continue to shift for a few days after the session. Your practitioner will recommend simple steps you can take to promote continued healing and will also suggest approaches to self-care.

YOU REALLY SHOULD LEARN ABOUT MEDICINAL HERBS

It was in the papers and online just last week: women, who have always outlived men longevity wise, just widened the gap a bit more. All sorts of usual suspects kill off men: guns, drugs, self-neglect, poor diets, more smoking. But one factor wasn’t mentioned, probably not worth considering by statisticians, and that this: All […]

Wikipedia’s Disservice to Alternative Medicine

We’ll return to the Root Causes of Chronic Fatigue series next week, but today a change of pace. I feel I must write about this Wiki business because yet again a patient printed out some misinformation about alternative medicine and brought it in to me for review. “Oy vey!,” I thought. “If she only knew […]

Remote House Calls: Healing Touch and Shamanic Healing

In these days of distancing, more clients are connecting with me via phone or Skype for remote sessions. Even before the pandemic, some clients who had the option of seeing me in person opted for remote sessions. They’ve reported that it’s beneficial to be able to connect with me from the comfort of their own […]

Issues with Endocrinologists: Thyroid Approaches and Big Pharma

My beefs with endocrinologists pretty much center on how they manage thyroid gland concerns, though they rarely win prizes for managing adrenal issues either. I don’t know any endocrinologists personally and rarely refer my patients to them. Occasionally, a patient with newly diagnosed hypothyroidism (low thyroid) will want to confirm the diagnosis with an endocrinologist. […]

The Cleveland Clinic and WholeHealth Chicago

I know, I know. It’s presumptuous of me to mention Cleveland Clinic in  the same line, much less on the same page, as WholeHealth Chicago, though we do have significant attributes in common, as you’ll see today. This research article, which appeared last week on the JAMA website, links the two of us in ways […]
